AutoGahn Press Release

After months of planning, Audiogon is pleased to announce the creation of AutoGahn, a premier online marketplace for the sale and auctioning of luxury and classic automobiles. Preparations have begun for a full launch of the new website in the third quarter of 2021.

Right now, the market is primed for this kind of website,” stated Syddney Finch, director of corporate expansion for Audiogon, in an April 1 press release. “Internet sales in the luxury/classic automotive sector have climbed rapidly in the past half-decade, especially in the past year. Lockdown just reinforced our feeling that the time is right for us to enter this expanding sector.

For the past 23 years, Audiogon has prided itself in having built the largest, most-respected high-end audio community in the industry,” Finch continued. “Our reputation precedes us in that respect. Our hope is that we can extend that reputation across a sister brand.”

Little is known yet as to how – or if – AutoGahn will be linked to Audiogon. Seamless integration of the two sites remains a possibility.

Do I see a day when someone could trade their Mark Levinson audio system for a ’69 Camaro on our site? Absolutely,” said Stephen Clay, president and CEO of Audiogon, when asked for comment.

Fahren, fahren, fahren auf der Autobahn

C’mon guys, if the logo being a straight-up ripoff of Kraftwerk’s Autobahn cover art wasn’t enough of a giveaway, the nod to George Plimpton’s 168-MPH-tossing Mets prospect of Sports Illustrated lore should’ve sealed it. Happy April Fools’ Day!
