Mancave Metal MP.III

As we entered the hotel lobby at AXPONA 2013, we noticed the coolest sculpture of a pair of big-ass speakers.  Our immediate thoughts were, “What a novel thing to display in your house!” After speaking with Larry Pattie of Mancave Metal, we were stunned to find out that they were indeed fully functional speakers that have lots of punch. As we studied this beautifully whimsical sculpture, we became more and more enamored with Larry’s painstakingly machined design. Read more below about the speaker itself and the bold statement Mancave Metal aims to make with their creations.

About the MP.III

The MP.III is made from many individual machined parts. The custom parts are modified and assembled to ensure an accurate android appearance. A result of this process is that each custom speaker upon close inspection reveals its individual uniqueness. The left and right speakers are reverse mirror copies. To design an equally riveting audio presence, Bill Dudleston, chief engineer and founder of Legacy Audio was contacted for consent to incorporate his proprietary silver/graphite/rohacell drivers in this industrial art. The clarity and presence these drivers release is quite remarkable. A 1000 watt ICEpower amplifier in each cabinet provides the power to breathe life into each speaker. This energy will match the visual impact the MP.III command. The uniting of outrageously machined  steel and world class audio components creates the chemistry to make this a must have piece.

About Mancave Metal

Mancave Metal’s mission is to redefine the boundaries of art and audio. They challenge the hand of the artisan to create what their imagination can conceive. It is their hope to be limited only by their dreams and are committed to building products with quality and integrity to ensure their timelessness.

Owner, Larry Pattie, said, “Thinking back, to my school days, I have always had great passion for the arts of sculpture and music. I lived in art class and listened to the radio constantly hoping to hear my favorite songs. I remember growing up and loving to play vintage jukeboxes that looked and sounded awesome. These beauties had a lasting magic of their own.”

Pattie continued, “My speaker designs are my way of recapturing a bit of the glory, when audio looked as compelling as it performed – like the feeling you get when approaching an early sixties Corvette with all its gorgeous sculpted lines and the jolt to your heart when it fires up and the ground pounds under your feet. That, my friend, is what my designs are all about.”

Stay tuned Agoners – there is more coming from the design studio of Mancave Metal…yow!
